Post verification

Verify the accuracy and freshness of your content

Updated over a week ago

Accurate and up-to-date content is the most useful content — that's why we've made it easy to stay on top of updating your posts! With post verification, you can easily see when your content was last checked for accuracy.

How post verification works

✏️ Note: Verification is only available for published posts, and only users with edit access to the post can enable or request verification.

First, find a post and enable or request verification. This will set the primary verifier (post owner by default) and the frequency of review (how often to reverify the post). Optionally, you can add additional verifiers to assist in maintaining the verification status.

Once the post is verified, it will show a green banner at the top, displaying who verified the post and the expiration date. As the post's expiration date approaches, the banner will show the remaining days to expiration and a Reverify button, incentivizing verifiers to review and reverify the post to maintain good status. A notification will also be sent to all verifiers to remind them to reverify.

When a post's verification expires, the banner will turn yellow and show when the verification expired and a Verify button, incentivizing verifiers to review and verify the post to bring it back to good status. A notification will also be sent to the verifiers, letting them know verification has expired.

Enabling post verification

To enable post verification:

  1. Open the relevant post.

  2. Click the … menu in the top right corner.

  3. Click Verify.

  4. Add yourself as a primary or additional verifier, and add additional verifiers as needed.

  5. Choose the frequency of review.

  6. Check the box next to "I’ve reviewed this post for accuracy."

  7. Click Verify.

✏️ Note: Only users with edit access to the post can be verifiers.

Requesting post verification

Users can submit a verification request to verifiers if they believe a post is outdated or requires updating.

✏️ Note: The user sending a request for post verification cannot be a verifier themselves.

To request verification:

  1. Open the relevant post.

  2. Click the … menu in the top right corner.

  3. Click Verify.

  4. Choose the primary verifier and add additional verifiers as needed.

  5. Choose the frequency of review.

  6. Click Request verification.

Primary and secondary verifiers

Primary verifiers are the same as secondary verifiers, except that the primary verifier will get one last additional notification when verification expires and no others have verified.

A primary verifier is always required, while secondary verifiers are optional.

Reverifying posts

Verifiers can reverify a post at any time to ensure its accuracy and extend the time for the verification to expire based on the frequency of review set. Expired verifications can be reverified as well.

While reverifying, if any edits have been made to the post since the last verification, the changes will be highlighted so the verifiers can easily see what has been changed.

To reverify a post:

  1. Open the relevant post.

  2. Click the … menu in the verification banner.

  3. Click Reverify post.

  4. If no edits were made:

    1. Check the box next to I've reviewed this post for accuracy.

    2. Click Verify.

  5. If edits were made:

    1. Use the arrows at the top of the post to cycle through any changes to review them.

    2. Click Reverify at the bottom of the post.

    3. Check the box next to I've reviewed this post for accuracy.

    4. Click Verify.

Verification notifications

Verifiers will automatically receive post verification reminders within Slab.

They can also opt into verification notifications via email and Slack in their notification settings. Make sure to enable the Direct option!

Primary verifiers will get an additional final verification notification compared to secondary verifiers.
