Google Workspace and Google Drive integration
Slab is built to work well with Google Workspace

From users to content, you can closely integrate your Slab with your Google Workspace:

No setup required

Embed Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and more to access your Drive content directly within your Slab. Just paste the Google link into a Slab post. No setup is required.

With individual user setup

Each Slab user can independently connect to Google Drive with Slab's Unified Search and Search across Google Drive from Slab โ€” you'll always find what you're looking for!

With admin setup

After a Slab admin integrates with Google Workspace, the whole team can:

  • Sign in or even register with Google Single Sign-On (SSO)

  • Allow the whole team to Search across Google Drive

Embed

Keep your Google Drive content right alongside your wiki via embeds. Embedding allows your team to copy a link to a file from Google Drive and paste it into Slab to live embed it.

Search Google Drive

You can search across all your Google Drive content right from Slab. This allows you to use both tools without siloing content.

To enable the search, each user can connect their individual account (details below), or an admin can integrate for the whole team.

Connecting your individual account

To connect to your drive:

  1. Type in any search term in the search bar and hit Enter

  2. Click on the โš™๏ธ Manage button next to Search Results

  3. Select Google Drive (Individual) from the list of available integrations

  4. Connect your Google Drive account

Note: Connecting to your account also allows you to import drive files directly into Slab.

Integration for the whole team

To enable drive search for your team:

  1. Click your team name in the top-left corner of the sidebar

  2. Click Team Settings in the dropdown menu

  3. Go to Integrations and find Google

  4. Click Modify or Enable

  5. Go to the Search tab and connect your Google Workspace account

  6. Click the checkbox for Enable Search and click the Save button

Note: File permissions will still apply, so your teammates will not be able to see anything they do not have access to in Drive.

Google SSO

Google Single Sign-On (SSO) makes it easy for your team to sign into Slab securely.

  1. Click your team name in the top-left corner of the sidebar

  2. Click Team Settings in the dropdown menu

  3. Go to Integrations and find Google

  4. Click Modify or Enable

  5. Go to the Authentication tab

  6. Click the checkbox for Enable Google Single Sign-On and click the Save button

Note: This may already be enabled if you initially set up Slab using a Google Workspace account.

Using multiple Google domains with SSO

Your team may have different domains to represent employees and contractors, or staff and students. Whatever the case may be, Slab supports signing in through multiple Google domains when one is not enough.
