How can I make a post public?
To make an individual post publicly accessible outside of your organization, click Share in the top right-hand corner of the post and toggle Create a public link on. You can then send the link to give anyone access.
You'll also be able to make entire topics public soon — stay tuned! 👀
Why is my public post not showing up?
Changes to public posts, including their creation, take a few minutes to sync! (This is so that any external viewers won't see changes as they occur.) Please wait a few minutes and then refresh the page!
Is there a native app I can use?
Right now, Slab is browser-only.

What browsers are supported?
You can access Slab in Chrome, Safari, FireFox, Brave, and Microsoft Edge.
Can I import PDFs?
Not yet, but we're working on it! In the meantime, there are two workaround options:
- Convert the file from a PDF to a Word doc (using Acrobat or an online converter) and upload it to Slab
- Attach the file in a post by drag-and-drop or by hitting /file attachment
What happens when I delete a topic?
When you delete a topic or a subtopic, any posts that are in the topic will not be deleted — they'll just become uncategorized, and can still be found by search or by going to the All topics page.
What happens when I delete a post?
Deleted posts are not recoverable. If you want to clean up your posts without deleting any content permanently, we suggest archiving! Any archived posts can still be found by search.
Can I change the font type or size in posts?
It isn't possible to change the font type or size in posts — we believe that too many formatting options can distract from your content, so we've decided to keep it simple.
How do I reset my password?
Click your profile icon in the upper right-hand corner of Slab → Account → Password.
Are there any templates I can use?
Yes! You can create custom personal templates from any post by clicking the ... menu in the corner and selecting Templatize. You can also check out Slab Library, a library of curated default templates!
Is there a dark mode?
Not just yet! If you're interested in that option, give us a shout! 🌚
Can I access Slab's API?
Limited API access is available for our Enterprise plan customers. Learn more about our plans on our pricing page.
Are private topics hidden from others?
The existence of private topics is not hidden from others. While only members will be able to access the posts within private topics, anyone will be able to see that the topic exists.
We're also working on a new feature that will make topics totally invisible to non-members, so keep an eye out for that!
Can I reorder topics in my left-hand sidebar?
Right now, topics are ordered alphabetically, but it will be possible to change this soon!
After I create a new post, why is it not showing up when I try to mention it?
New posts can take a moment to populate in the mentions menu! (This is what you see when you hit + or @ within a post.) If you prefer not to wait, you can always copy and paste the URL of the post and it will unfurl to show the title.
Can I create a new post from within another post?
Not at the moment, but that's an interesting idea! Give us a holler if you'd like to see us build this out.
Can I create a new Google Doc or Sheet from within Slab?
Right now, it's only possible to embed existing Docs and Sheets.
Can I use Slab on my mobile device?
Yes! You can access Slab in your mobile browser, and we're continuing to add new features to make the mobile version more powerful and easier to use.
On iOS, you can use Slab in your browser just like you would on a desktop.
On Android, it isn't yet possible to edit posts — but that's on our to-do list! ✅
Does Slab have a free version?
Yes! We offer a free plan to teams of 10 (users + guests) or fewer. The free plan includes version history for up to 90 days, usage analytics for up to 30 days, and up to 10 integrations, along with a few other differences. You can learn more about it on our pricing page.
How do I submit a feature request?
